This series has no business being this fun! It’s not flawless, it has hand wavey SF elements. Technology that just /does things/ because it’s convenient sometimes. But it’s such an interestingly plotted book. I love political intrigue in SFF, and this provides.

I think I’d prefer even more character work, but I like what’s there. It is definitely more of a plot driven story. I almost wish the books were split up more because so much happens. I feel like the first two books are 4 seasons worth of TV.

There’s a romance (two?) that works for me in this book. The characters are much more than their romance and are capable of thinking beyond their romance, which I just appreciate so much.

I kept asking myself, does this feel like a second book? Does it feel like we’re just dragging things out? And I don’t think so, at least not for me. We got new mysteries and resolved others.

Excited to read the finale!
