Overall I enjoyed this one. I read Due's The Good House last year, so I was looking forward to this. The Good House was a better read for me, but I still liked this, too.

I always like a story of a slow descent into madness, and you get that feel here. It's painful to watch, though, because of how messy it is, how people are hurt. I liked the paranormal elements, though I was pretty confused for much of the book. It was refreshing in a way - I wasn't picking up on what was happening really early. The conclusion is also really strong. I thought it was very satisfying.

There's a chunk in the middle that felt really slow for me. It reminded me of another book I read called The Grip of It by Jac Jemc. It felt similarly same-y through the middle. The tension is building, but at the same time it feels like similar things are repeating. But the last third of the book really took off, and I couldn't put it down.
