Well, I hadn't realised I was starting a series! Hopefully I can get my hands on the other two parts reasonably quickly, since I greatly enjoyed Foundation. It's also the first fiction I've read in a while, and I'm glad to have done so. I'll also be keeping my eyes out for more Asimov!

I've been wanting to read a lot more classic sci-fi, and I've had this in my to-read for a while now.

As brilliant as last time I read it - and all the more relevant now

Picked up a copy at Waterstones. Why this one? It was the only one in the series they had out. I know there are prerequisites I haven't covered yet so the plan is to fill those in as I go along.

I actually finished this over a month ago but I didn't get round to reviewing it until now. I really enjoyed learning about English Revolution-era radical thought, and particularly the works of Winstanley; it's given me a lot to think about. I would say, though, that as a more academic text this book isn't written especially engagingly.

While I did find this book particularly dense in the classic word soup that a lot of sci-fi falls into, it made me consider the implications for Earth of the discovery of alien life in a way that I hadn't before - can't wait to read the sequels!
