It’s kinda fun reading this after the tv show and discovering how many these season length setups are just a few pages in the books. I struggled with the artwork in this one though. On the one hand I loved the ruggedness, it seems apt, but on the other it felt inconsistent and less expressive than you might imagine. Also did Hershel look a little too like Rick to anyone? Possibly a deliberate reflection of the situations they all found themselves in, but while Kirkman does a great job in bringing to the fore the human challenges which the characters are likely to have in reaction to circumstances, he rushes through their emotions which, like the art, left me a little dissatisfied that he hasn’t delved even a tiny bit deeper.
