It's nice to read a book by someone who understands that being a person in the world is inherently problematic when so many others take it for granted that it's just normal or don't think about it at all and at the same time he is able to have a sense of humor about it. Similarly I appreciate his willingness to step back from his points of view and recognize both the limitations in his vision and in his ability to empathize while still taking it as a goal. I would go on, only he writes so much better than I do and reviews better than I can (e.g. Tristam Shandy) so I'm going to stop here.
