Annalee Newitz (duplicate): The Terraformers (Hardcover, 2023, Tor Books)

From science fiction visionary Annalee Newitz comes The Terraformers, a sweeping, uplifting, and illuminating exploration …

Took me quite a while to get through this one. I like Analee Newitz so much. I really want to like their fiction, but something about it always feels off. In this one, the story kept jumping forward relatively large swaths of time, and several of the characters we got to know through their first-person perspectives were killed off in relatively unsatisfying ways. I would like for the slavery depicted in the book to have been fought-over at least by someone. (It's just painful at this point to read a book that features the ownership of sentient beings, but where it isn't the central struggle or plot to fight for civil rights.)
