I think what is most captivating about this book is the world. Such interesting and varied races all living on the same world. It’s fantasy with magic, but there are remnants of previous (presumably higher technology) civilizations everywhere. It’s a fascinating milieu, and I want to read more immediately. I’m hoping we get more of the world’s history!

EDIT 2023: I re-read this in a couple of days. Definitely holds up!
