After reading the entire Song of Ice and Fire series in the last few months I wanted to revisit Clash of Kings in anticipation of the HBO TV show returning and I was able to appreciate this book so much more than on my original reading. The characters and stories that are set up in this instalment affects all books after it, while dropping a few hints as to where some characters will end up. This book all leads up to the "kings clashing" but so much more happens outside of Kings Landing and the battle for the Iron Throne that make this book so entertaining.

The introduction of new characters and families may be off putting but they are all integral in the larger part of the story as this book is just a great read.
