Robert M. Pirsig: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (Paperback, 2006, HarperTorch)

"The real cycle you're working on is a cycle called 'yourself.'"One of the most important …

not a good bedtime read

This is the second time that I stop reading this book. I really enjoyed the journaling of the motorcycle trip, but that's only half of the story. After a day at work, sitting in bed, trying to wind down, the whole discussion about classicism vs romanticism and rational analysis, etc is just too dry and tiring to follow.

Kenneth H. Blanchard: The one minute manager (1981, Blanchard-Johnson Publishers)

Pretty good advice, but it shows it's age

The book could have been shorter, and some techniques are outdated (especially the touching people part). I find the advice in the book clear and simple. I can imagine that it makes for effective management. And I plan to integrate it in my own life.

John Stevens: The Marathon Monks of Mount Hiei (2013)

I was awed to read about their endurance

Reading this book, I received a new (deeply appreciative) view about the determination of monks to achieve realization. And that awe made me contemplate my own life habits

made me enroll for the online course

I don't know what the book's objective was, but it made me want more, and I joined the online course. In the end, I didn't feel like finishing the book anymore

Bessel A. Van Der Kolk: The Body Keeps the Score (Paperback, 2015, Penguin Books)

Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath …

I've taken so many insights and tools for dealing with my own trauma from this book that the only thing that I can say is: "If you are working on any kind of trauma (yours, of someone close to you, or for your clients), this book is a must-read."
