Juvenile, but not in the way intended

Lift is a young kid, and the writing and thinking reflect that, which is fine. I just think that she gets away with too much and is way too smart and too capable for someone who's major character trait is being young.

Great read, but getting a little confusing

I'm taking away half a star because I think the new elements are really good, but there's so much happening at the end that it feels like a bit much all at once. I feel like some elements could have taken a little more time to be explained, but other than minor pacing at the end, wonderful book

Tests your patience, in a good way

There's a lot of purposeful filler in here, but it serves the same purpose as the blanks on a canvas -- it adds to the composition. That said, my expectations were a bit high going into the book after watching the myhouse.wad videos on youtube -- the mod was much more dynamic, and the book feels flat in comparison. Still an excellent read, worth your time.

Award winner for a reason

The book is incredibly captivating from the moment you open it -- I instantly was done with Part 1 even though I had something to do and couldn't spend that much time reading. The dialogue and some of the analogies are strange to English readers, but is on purpose -- being translated from Chinese, too much of the meaning and flow would have been lost if it were more "Americanized". The way its paced also makes you feel like you're going through the same thing the main character is. Overall, an excellent book, and am super excited to watch the show.
