Lower rating because i feel like i was tricked. I really need to stop reading thrillers. I say that every time I read one. This one had me excited for a while, with the small nods to fantasy, but I should have known better. The last half of the book didn’t meet the expectations set up by they first part. I think it almost tries to say something but, as with most thrillers, it seemed to lose interest in favor of focusing on plot. Whatever it does have to say is pretty shallow, and subtle enough it could be easily missed.
