Jim Brown reviewed How I Learned What I Learned by August Wilson
Saying the wrong thing, to the wrong person at the wrong time
I think maybe this play is about kairos, when it comes down to it. Wilson's play about "how he knows what he knows" often has these moments where he either said the right thing or the wrong thing:
"You can say the wrong thing, to the wrong person at the right time and get away with it. But you cannot say the wrong thing, to the wrong person at the wrong time."
Right after saying this, he recounts a story of watching a man get murdered for breaking this rule.
