Olivia Dade: At First Spite (2024, HarperCollins Publishers) 3 stars

Not the biggest fan of this one, even if I loved a lot of scenes in the book

I really can't say I was a fan of this, and I've enjoyed so many of Olivia's books -- Spoiler Alert was one of my favorite contemporary romances I've read the past few years -- but this one was not for me. A lot of the story was so fun, and we've got a balancing of three damaged people but it was tough for me to get on board with the main relationship in any real way. And I know this isn't fair at all, but "Professor Google" which appeared like four dozen times, really wasn't working for me - and why does Professor Google need to be male? It's hard to imagine google ever being as irrelevant, but imagine having a Dr Lykos in a book today, people would be like "what's a lykos". Professor Google made me cringe a little inside every time I saw it, and it came up so many times.

I read the whole book, but I wouldn't recommend it to friends if they asked, or I'd off the caveat that it wasn't for me. I see lots of people who are really enjoying it, so it might just be a Me Problem. Whereas I'll buy extra copies of Spoiler Alert and give them to friends if they let their guard down, I'm such a fan of that one
