Prepare for The Hypnotist to cast its spell

Review of 'The hypnotist' on 'Goodreads'

3 stars

In The Hypnotist, Swedish Detective Inspector Joona Linna is investigating a strange massacre of a family, where the only surviving witness is a boy who is in shock. He convinces Dr. Erik Maria Bark to hypnotize the boy to get some info. But the information is both upsetting and confusing and the trail goes all over Sweden.

Not so sure about this book. Probably 3.5 stars. The long digression into why Dr. Bark gave up being a hypnotist for psychological repair is boring and confusing. Joona Linna is only around for parts of it, as it mostly centers on Bark and his shaky relationship with his wife and teenaged son. Pretty violent too. Probably just barely good enough for me to add #2 ([b:The Nightmare|13722526|The Nightmare (Joona Linna, #2)|Lars Kepler|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1340909323s/13722526.jpg|14080417]) to the list, but not good enough to make me want to run out and immediately read it. So it will probably get lost on my ever growing To Read list...
