jmags reviewed The immoralist by André Gide (Penguin twentieth-century classics)

Look, I like sodomy and misanthropy as much as the next guy, but this overwrought book in which a self-fellating narrator gets all worked about about how BAD he has been makes me wish that Gide's parents had been big queers like him, so I wouldn't have had to slog through all this hand wringing.
