Thud. The sound of a club striking a head, but also the name of a classic game of Dwarves vs. Trolls. Both of these along with abstinent vampires, demonic time-keepers, mad painters, crystalline gang bosses, pint-sized dragons, carriage drifting, occult fanatics, some very suspect free alcohol, badass butlers, runaway magic, the all-consuming darkness, and of course, a missing cow, are all intertwined in this outrageous and yet very deep fantasy mystery. Its the 34th Discworld novel and in my opinion, probably one of the best.
