About like I thought it would be. Definitely not high-brow literature, and the writing wasn't the best quality, but it was fun and cozy nonetheless. A good pre-bedtime read, featuring an intelligent, humorous, and likeable heroine. The characterization was pretty convincing and at times the murderer seemed like a feasible threat, which is more than a lot of murder mysteries can say.
I haven't tried out any of the recipes yet, but some of them, namely those involving cherries, look pretty tempting--my mom says she once tried the Chocolate Chip Crunchies and didn't like them, though. Overall, I don't regret reading it and will definitely read the other books in the series. I would recommend it to any fellow foodies and those looking for a fun, yet substantial read.
