Mark Anderson reviewed Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese
Review of 'Cutting for Stone' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
Some echoes of John Irving's The Cider House Rules in this novel--but it takes the concept of a medically proficient orphan and takes it into a whole new wonderful world of multiculturalism. The novel takes its time, and while there may be moments when it potentially borders on precious, it somehow manages to keep it real. Well written passages on medical procedures, especially!
