Ruben Kier: The 100 best targets for astrophotography (2009, Springer)

Review of 'The 100 best targets for astrophotography' on 'Goodreads'

An excellent guide to 100 astrophotography targets organized by month. The old favorites are here, but there are quite a few little-known targets images of which have, on at least one occasion, aroused the interest of the old hands at the Delaware Astronomical Society. For each target its various names, RA and declination, magnitude and size head the chapter. The first paragraph in the brief chapters summarizes some facts about the target, e.g. its distance from earth. The second contains tips on imaging, e.g. is it worth shooting with a one-shot color chip, and the third is tips on processing. There are one or two high quality color images per target, and there are appended chapters on equipment and image processing. I learned a technique for shrinking star size, p. 354, that I didn't know.
