What becomes of classic hero's who find themselves in a modern, darker, gritty age where everyone has face tattoos and to much eyeshadow for no apparent reason? They flirt with totalitarianism of course.
I can't say I felt like this made a whole lot of sense to me, but I'm not well steeped in the DC canon. Clark's authoritarian heel turn seems wildly out of character and sure enough leads to an inevitable return to type. Meanwhile Bruce, who with otherwise seem like a good fit for that role, leads the mortal super heroes in a double cross of the super villains that doesn't really add up. In the end we learn that with great power comes great responsibility and multilateral bodies are the best way to get things done. Oh and woman shouldn't be trusted for they will let you astray with their hysterical ways.
It's pretty, in a washed out watercolour way, but quite hard to follow when the action scales up.
At the very least it was more interesting and enjoyable than project superpowers turned out to be.
