The comparison to Christie made this book seem like a mystery, but there was none. There are elements of a thriller and it was a fun read, but the plot fell short.
IMO it's closer to Lord of the Flies, but the characters (especially Brittany and Amma) don't make sense toward the end.
Liane Moriarty has a very charming writing style, which is why this is 3 stars. Otherwise, I found this book dull and it dragged way too much. It was a frustrating read and they pay off wasn't worth the wait

2024 Edit: While I enjoyed this book, looking at it within the context of Hoover's other works soured it. It's a good thriller but still has the "Hooverisms" you might expect.

This was not what I expected from Liane Moriarty, but it was a fun ride. I thought it was easy to follow the characters, which is hard to do when there are this many. I wouldn't describe this as a thriller, per se, but it was a thrilling read.
