The comparison to Christie made this book seem like a mystery, but there was none. There are elements of a thriller and it was a fun read, but the plot fell short.
IMO it's closer to Lord of the Flies, but the characters (especially Brittany and Amma) don't make sense toward the end.

mayorbeetles reviewed Truly madly guilty by Liane Moriarty
Review of 'Truly madly guilty' on 'Goodreads'

Liane Moriarty has a very charming writing style, which is why this is 3 stars. Otherwise, I found this book dull and it dragged way too much. It was a frustrating read and they pay off wasn't worth the wait

Whew, if you want a thriller that slams on the gas and doesn't let up then this is the book for you
2024 Edit: While I enjoyed this book, looking at it within the context of Hoover's other works soured it. It's a good thriller but still has the "Hooverisms" you might expect.

I couldn't put this one down. Taylor Jenkins Reid knows how to write compelling characters and I loved getting to know all the Rivas.
Edit: Also, I love that Mick isn't forgiven in the end. It's so different than other family dramas where re-integrating the toxic person into the family is the "happy ending."

This was not what I expected from Liane Moriarty, but it was a fun ride. I thought it was easy to follow the characters, which is hard to do when there are this many. I wouldn't describe this as a thriller, per se, but it was a thrilling read.

Appalachian horror, heavy metal, well written women, Satanic forces, and a road trip. What more could you want in a book? Grady's The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires was my favorite book last year, and this is a contender for this year's favorite.

The excellent writing makes it difficult to believe this isn't a real band.
It's a wild story, full of highs and lows. It made me quite sad tbh! But still a great read.

I'm a huge fan of this series and this entry delivered! The small moments between Charlie and the other characters are so sweet without being corny.
Gripes: Chapter where he literally keeps falling asleep in between phone calls (I know he likes to doze but come on), some of the plot was left hanging at the end
