Peter Attia, Bill Gifford: Outlive (2023, Potter/Ten Speed/Harmony/Rodale) 4 stars

A groundbreaking manifesto on living better and longer that challenges the conventional medical thinking on …

Outlive is equal parts fascinating, terrifying, and inspiring. It is fascinating as Attia takes you on a journey to understanding the aging process and how your choices throughout your life affect your prospects of a long and active life going forward. It is terrifying because Attia describes in vivid detail how the choices you are making, and have made, today and in your past have direct consequences for your health going forward. And it is inspiring because at the same time he makes an argument that, no matter what stage of life you are at, you can improve your prospects and probably live a happier life.

Attia has no easy answers for living a long, healthy life. His program demands a dedication to exercise, nutrition, sleep, mental health, and basically improving every aspect of your current habits. Nevertheless, it feels achievable and empowering.
