This was a lovely fantasy story with vibrant art and characters! The author and artist afterwords about their intentional portrayals of decolonialism and mixed-race representation only added to the warmth.

The protagonist’s hair flowers wax and wane and glow. I read that as being motivated with her emotions, which is something I love about Persephone in Lore Olympus. I think we often see superheroes whose powers can manifest physically, but it’s neat to have magic characters’ joyful and difficult experiences as a literal part of them.
