First off, the dystopia-style to the fairy tale twist was so so well done. It was engaging, addicting and yet still believable despite being a fantasy novel. I absolutely loved the slow-burn friends-to-lovers, which was allowed to develop perfectly and realistically beneath the main plot of the book, and every moment of intimacy and longing was captured to create such vicarious emotion within the reader simultaneously. One of my favourite parts is the preparation for the attack on the castle, where Sofia and Constance share their first moments of physical closeness amongst the anxiety and apprehension for the coming day. Another is the HUGE plot twist right near the end regarding Amina ( Fairy Godmother), which was so out of the blue, and something I truly could not have predicted. These are just some of the moments that just made the book such an engaging one that I could not put down, and one that I finished in a matter of days. I would 1000% recommend to anyone LGBTQ+, a lover of fantasy, and a big anti-patriarchal who has always felt uncomfortable at the helpless princess trope in too many children fairy tales. Hope you enjoy as much as I did! xx
