Chantha Nguon, Kim Green: Slow Noodles (2024, Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill) 5 stars

Slow Noodles - a unique autobiography.

5 stars

The author provides a well written account about growing up and surviving the turmoil of Southeast Asia. The story revolves around the importance of food and is punctuated by recipes - mostly for dishes her mother taught her but also ironic recipes about life.

I highly recommend this book. If you are as old as I am it gives context to the horrific history of this area that you were already aware of. It also provides lessons about the unpredictability of life and survival.
