Frances Cha: If I Had Your Face (Paperback, 2021, Penguin)

I didn't get on with this. Some aspects of it - the exploration of South Korean culture, the bonds between the women - were interesting, but I didn't feel like I really got to know the characters. I felt like Cha kept leaving out all the juicy bits about their lives that I wanted to know about, and focused instead on areas that I wasn't particularly interested in. I didn't really feel like there was much character development either. I will say though that learning about South Korean beauty standards and the country's attitude to women was absolutely fascinating (horrifying, but fascinating).
