Picked this up on the recommendation of a coworker. Not sure if this is meant to be YA but it reads very much like it, as in rebellious teenage protagonist who somehow can do no wrong. Still, it's an entertaining read and easy to want to keep reading and pick up the sequels (also, warning: cliffhanger endings!)
If I had to draw comparisons, I'd say it's Hunger Games meets Ender's Game with a bit of The Expanse. Rigidly stratified caste society, lots of school age kids murdering each other in brutal manner, but with war and space battles outside that, and set in a solar system where most of the planets/moons have been colonized and terraformed. Is it the best or most original writing ever? Well, no; and basically the first female character we meet at all is immediately fridged. Still, action-packed read and a lot of very detailed worldbuilding.
