RoyBirk finished reading Michelangelo and The Pope's Ceiling by Ross King
Truly fascinating. King is able to place Michelangelo in his times as he paints the Sistine Chapel just a few years after the immolation of a man he admired at the order of the previous Pope. During his work, the contemporary Pope is off waging holy war. The reader learns not only the difficulties of fresco, but also of life in Italy in the early 16th century.
