The author sounds simple minded. I am in the blood business. Can you imagine the consequences of disclosing blood donors info? We already had blood segregation in the 40s. What could we achieve by disclosing donors info? So that recipients get to pick and choose whose blood to receive? Like one of those antivaxx patients who wants to be transfused with unvaccinated blood only(this actually happens)? Or a racist organ donor gets to choose which racial group get to use their organ?

There are always gonna be exploiters in every system, but it doesn't mean the system is doomed. And, altruism does exist. People donate blood, bone marrow, time, energy, money, etc really out of the goodness of their heart. Majority of the population can actually be quite empathetic. His level of cynicism is just sad.
