John Berryman's The Dream Songs, Anne Rice's Cry to Heaven, John Irving's The World According to Garp, The Stories of Ray Bradbury (I checked out this massive tome from Centralia's library so often they should've gifted me the thing), Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle, John Irving's The Cider House Rules (and pretty much every other word the man writes), Michelangelo Signorile's Queer in America, Vonnegut's Bluebeard, and Breakfast of Champions, and hell, all the rest too. Alice Walker's The Color Purple, Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, Patricia Highsmith's The Talented Mr. Ripley, short stories of Flannery O'Connor simply floor me. Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire is formative. Armistead Maupin is a god. Gregory Maguire is addictive, even if I only understand him half the time. Peanuts, of course, the earlier, edgier the better. Watterson's Calvin & Hobbes soars, Breathed's Bloom County will forever own my heart.
