The Audacity to be Queen

This book was gifted to me by someone who couldn't sing Gina DeVee's praises high enough. While the overall idea of the book (realizing your highest purpose, identifying your desires, manifesting it all) spoke to me, I found the execution to be severely lacking. It's a book without a soul. It's a book written by someone who has paid to attend an abundance of self help workshops, read every book on the topic, and threw their own book together because they believe that having a book offers some sort of credibility.

I have no doubt that Gina is an inspiring speaker who motivates many to achieve their dreams, but for someone in her field, image is everything. As such, Gina needs to protect her image, her brand. This book should have been read by small groups for honest feedback before ever being published. (Ironically, she mentions hiring a marketing firm and cutting ties with them after two years because they were 'standing in her way'.) She comes across as spoiled, entitled, overly materialistic, shallow, and highly impressionable. She writes about daily meditations and 'tapping into Source' for guidance, yet she repeatedly bases her wants and desires on what she has seen others doing. Paris Hilton summered in Saint-Tropez! OFF I GO! It's comical. It's sad. What does SHE really want? Aside from feeling almost famous and seeking validation by wearing Valentino? She seems entirely guided by envy. I came very close to not finishing this book but I kept hoping she was going to pull it all together somehow. She didn't. Don't waist your time. I can sum up the entire 317 pages by saying this: Meditate on your desires. Seek spiritual affirmation. Create a vision board. Trust that focusing on that desire, envisioning it and believing it, will bring it to fruition.
