Blake Crouch: Recursion (2019, Crown Publishing Group, The)

Memory makes reality.

That’s what New York City cop Barry Sutton is learning as …

Maybe I've just had enough time travel. It felt like cheating in Avengers Endgame, or too clever by half in Tenet, in this book it is stretched and stretched to an inevitable conclusion that I wasn't really bothered about when we finally got there. It's a clever conceit but I didn't really engage with the characters enough to care if they succeeded or not. I certainly did not buy them as soulmates on an action movie mission to save the world that becomes a scientific mission to save the world. Barry is a beat cop detective, but pivots into becoming a quantum physicist? Be interesting to see if Disney handle this divergent timeline proposition better in Loki
