I really struggled with this book, in parts it was funny and imaginative, but also slightly weird with the fantastical elements that occur; it didn't work for me. Almost abandoned the book at over 200 pages in, I have never thought of doing that so far into a book before, but I persevered and finished it. The choice of character names was confusing at times too.  Bit of a shaggy dog story.
