Meghan March: Dirty Girl (Paperback, Red Dress Press)

None

I rarely listen before I read, but I needed a book for my drive to/from work and I got the audiobook loan for this one from the Libby app.

Rich girl, poor guy meet while she's in college. We don't hear the entire story, but he ghosted her.
Years later, he's a super star in Hollywood, she's a successful lawyer.
One drunk night with her best girlfriend puts in motion one of the most super hot reunions I've ever read.

Um... Ok, stop now... Maybe potentially spoilers...

Ok, now that we're down here... OMG... Seriously, without saying what, the twists in this book are freaking insane! What you thought you knew, you didn't! Those feelings you had, like how is this story going to end when there's another book after this, but everything is leading me towards a HEA, yeah, fugetaboutit.

This book burns hot (pun intended!)

Not your typical billionaire/poor girl romance, this story has history and pain and suspense and sadness, rolled up in between plenty of smexy. Jackson, your standard rich playboy meets a beautiful redhead and falls hard, but he's so stupid he doesn't realize it LOL. Ginny lives with her Foster Brother, works multiple jobs and has a ton of baggage, a lot of it from said Foster Brother. They meet and the sparks fly. There's so many twists and turns in this book, you'd think it would make it convoluted, but D.L. does an amazing job of bringing the reader through the story, full of amazingly deep characters, and after breaking my heart 1800 times, ends on very hard earned HEA. I'm SO looking forward to reading the next book, and the extra chapter and Scott and Sadies story!!

A little bit of everything

I love the mish-mash of genre! Let's see, high School bully, mafia princes, nerdy/good girl with darkness inside of her, MFM, hmmm what else, suspense, drama, horror, you name it! This is a great book, honestly I thought with all of that, it would be another cookie cutter story, but Steph managed to make all that into a fantastic story that I couldn't put down! Ends on a cliffy, of course. But unlike some of these stories that are 10 books long and should have been 1, there's so many interesting loose ends, I'm going to start the second book now, hopefully, (I haven't seen how old this one is LOL) when I should be going to sleep!!

A Summer Nightmare

Summer is a camp counselor who runs into a man in the woods who makes her a deal she can't refuse. He might not be the only thing that goes bump in the night. At the end of the day, this is a romance, LOL. It makes me laugh to type it, but it's true. Kayde and Summer meet in a seriously messed up way, but his devotion and love for her is amazing. This book has laughs, smexy time, unaliving, mystery and a twist that will make you go WTF. AJ writes amazing books and I haven't found one yet I didn't love. DO read your trigger warnings folks, as usual, not for the weak constituted or people who feel the annoying need to drag their real life morals into a work of fiction.

A second chance without all the fluff

Second chance romance can be so cliche, but this one wasn't at all and that's a great thing! No 200 pages of bs fluff where we have to watch the MC's dance around and screw everything up 20 times. This book has just enough angst to make my heart break, but not so much that I wanted to throw my kindle across the room. Ryder is the typical jock with the blonde girlfriend, Elle is the nerd with a crush. This book is a beautiful tribute to two people who actually do the right thing and put others before their feelings for each other. Flash forward 10 years and circumstances put them back in each others orbits. A.R. writes emotions in a way that you can't help but feel like you are part of the story, at least I can't. She also setup …

Nova is unstoppable

Wow! This book is nuts! Nova is running from a life spent as an experiment for her scientist father. When she meets others from his same sick experiments, she realizes that this is way bigger than just her. The story follows her and her 5 men as they travel around the world, trying to unravel the sick people who continue her fathers legacy. Tons of twists and turns, even more smexy time with her and her men. Looking forward to the 2nd book after the hella plot twist at the end!

Spoiler ahead... Stop reading now if you don't want to know. I don't spoil the book, but I do answer a question that made it hard for me to finish it.

.... I got very attached to all of the MC's, so about 3/4's through the book I started worrying they might unalive one of them. …

My punishment is greater than I can bear

Holyyyyyy S... You know the rest, I don't want my post to get declined. WOW, I love dark, the darker the better and this one is darkness personified. Cain is a unaliver who has a fetish for those things you look at people with. When he sees a girl with violet eyes, he becomes obsessed. Kirby is a FBI agent in training with a ton of baggage thanks to her awful Mother and a boyfriend who is SO annoying. This book never spends one second of a page on something boring or drawn out. Every word is there for a reason and the story is just so interesting. Brooklyn wrote a psychopath better than I've ever read and you can't help but love him. So many twists and turns. Do read any TW's, if you have a wimpy disposition you probably won't …

This restored my faith in the mafia RH genre

I'm sure you've already read the summary of what the book is about, so I won't bore you repeating it. I've read a LOT of RH, Mafia, bad guy (all in the same book or one of the 3) and honestly I was getting tired of the same story line with different names, geographical locations and a couple of things to try and make it different. This book is amazing! I'm not sure what made it different except maybe K.A. Knight is just a fan-freaking-tastic author. The FMC and MMC's are all incredible. Their back stories and personalities so well developed that I felt like they were friends by the end of the book. Off in the head and dark friends, but friends none the less. The FMC is an insanely brave woman, who survived a bad upbringing and life on …

No spoilers, but I will say this one has some major triggers. Please make sure you read the TW's first, NC is pretty prevelent. When Leni's HS tormentors go from just bullies to step-brothers, the reality is so much worse than her imagination. I figured this would be your typical HS rolling into College WC but it was not what I expected at all. This one is not a romance. I'm pretty hardcore when it comes to books, but I even had to put it down a few times. I promise, even if you need to skip a few paragraphs or pages to make it through some of the rougher scenes, the end is worth it. That's about all I can say without spoilering anything LOL. Great book, rough read from an emotional perspective, but man the story is solid. I did get an advanced reader copy of this book …

T: The Humbler Poets (A.C. McClurg and Company)

None

I don't even know where to start! Read the TW's, this one is rough. The characters are so well written, and I was so personally invested in their relationships, that when bad stuff happened I was a complete disaster.

That being said, the happy and funny times were so much sweeter because you can't help but fall in love with all of them. A horrible attack breaks apart 5 people before they can confess their love for each other. Poor Leo, she has had more thrown at her than 10 lifetimes of a normal person. Her men, Lucky, Norm, Mark and Pete all suffer to give her what she needs back, safety, security, love and music. Her psudo adoptive parents are amazing seccondary characters that I loved getting to know as well. Smexy time is off the freaking rails! Can't recommend enough!

Hailey know's how to fix broken relationships and people, but not herself. Her new client, Arlo, is much more than he seems. I refuse to spoil it with more specifics than that, but this book is way more than it first appears to be. Amazing MC's, wonderful secondary characters, and a story so full of ups and downs and unexpected things that it kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire read. I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am soooo happy I did because this book is fantastic! I'm completely leaving this review voluntarily, you couldn't get me to write a review on a book I didn't enjoy no matter what. I'm sad I'm already done reading it because I just loved this story so much. Don't worry, there is a TON of smexy in this book, some vanilla, some not so much. …

Uh....

Yolanda is a wonderful writer. She can spin a scene so well, you can FEEL it, not just picture it in your head. This book is dark, is not a romance and the MMC is not a good person. He's pretty freaking nuts actually. But, you can't help by like him through the eyes of the FMC's childhood memories. When she goes home to visit her parents, she finds him. He's no longer the skinny, dirty, swamp kid he was growing up, but he's still her bestie. While she has fantasies of rekindling their friendship + benefits, he does his dark voodoo (literally.) This ends in a HUGE cliffy, be warned. Like I'm still sitting here with my mouth open thinking WHAT THE F. There's gotta be a sequel, like for sure, otherwise I'm lowering this 4 stars to 1 LOL.
