Buehlman is fast becoming one of my favourite authors, and I'll be reading the rest of his catalogue soon. Blacktongue Thief is my favourite book of the last few years, and while this prequel doesn't ever quite reach the same heights, and I can't shake a feeling I'd rather the story had moved forward than backward this is still utterly superb.
