Maria Bamford: Sure, I'll Join Your Cult (2023, Gallery Books)

Maria Bamford is a comedian’s comedian (an outsider among outsiders) and has forever fought to …

Audiobook production is choppy, but hearing Maria Bamford’s story from she herself is worth the mild annoyance. Just be ready for the first two letters of each new paragraph (sometimes sentence) to be cut off. Maria becomes “-ia”. Welcome becomes “-lcome” and so on. Actually it is super distracting and annoying and I promised myself I wouldn’t complain about it publicly but I don’t know how it was released with this flaw. I tried two different legitimate sources and so have two audiobook copies plus the print edition (and I don’t regret that-Maria Bamford is a genius and I’m glad to support her some way). The content is superb-hilarious and tragic and inspired. Just be aware that the audiobook is a bit glitchy.

Jane Elliott: A Collar In My Pocket (Paperback, 2016, CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Createspace Independent Publishing Platform)

Review of 'A Collar In My Pocket' on 'Goodreads'

Great insight into the mind of the creator of the Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes exercise. Inspiring, motivational, frustrating, and relevant. Mrs. Elliott's ability to create empathy - more where there was some, any where there was none - is a true gift. Contains an extensive bibliography for further study.

Marcia Clark: Blood Defense (2016, Thomas & Mercer)

Gasp!

This was definitely a real Paige turner. Great twists, turns, and what a killer ending! I read it on a whim wondering what kind of writer Marcia Clark is, and I've gotta say I like what I read. Her style is easy, straightforward, and approachable. I'm excited to read the next in the Samantha Brinkman series.
