Chris Cleave: Everyone Brave Is Forgiven (2016, Simon & Schuster)

Review of 'Everyone Brave Is Forgiven' on 'Goodreads'

I started this on Wednesday morning, reading it on the bus to work -- and missed my stop. I finished it on Thursday at 10pm. Your mileage may vary, but this sucked me in completely.

It's a historical novel, told from the point of view of a few English people during WWII. The characters are well drawn, with weaknesses and strengths. Descriptions are vivid, though I never felt I was getting an info-dump. I hadn't encountered some of these perspectives on the war before, and found them illuminating.
