vin_aigre reviewed The cuckoo's calling by J.K. Rowling (Cormoran Strike -- 1)

Just like ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ had nothing to do with a mockingbird, ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’ left the plot bereft of cuckoos. Probably a scheme to marginalize birds, probably not. In any case, the book was excellent. Though it could have been condensed in a less wordy format. I’m just saying that from the mystery-conventional-pacing point of view. In retrospect, there wasn’t much action that required almost six-hundred pages of storytelling. But the characters were amazingly developed and not a single one of them felt as an accessory or a temporary additive inserted in order to connect dots, as is the general case with mystery solving.
This is a generic book from none other than J. K. Rowling writing under the pen name Robert Galbraith. And this is a non-biased review of the book. No really it’s not.
