An interesting mix of things - a charming tale of hoarder Buckminster in Maine and the beauty of his decaying objects, Maine history, mentions of times with Stephen Jay Gould at Harvard and also how one thing can look like another.

Using reading to expand my world and read from all categories. I love a well written book, but if the ideas are good and the writing less so, that's ok too.

Beautiful book, still a confusing concept
4 stars
I read most sections of this book twice, I think maybe it is just hard for the Western mind to fully grasp. The examples spanned a wide range of history and definitely helped in understanding.

Interesting background on Dan Eldon
2 stars
I became interested in this through Dan Eldon's beautiful journals. A little like the Eat, Pray, Love of its time I guess. Always wanted to live in Kenya, the beautiful land of Karen Blixen who stoked my interest. Amusing to think if I had gone I would have been the same age as Amy and Dan and might have even known them. Not a lot to recommend the book, but interesting read of the times and Dan Eldon's life.
