This revised and enlarged edition of the leading anthology provides the essential writings of Marx and Engels--those works necessary for an introduction to Marxist thought and ideology.

Review of 'The Marx-Engels Reader' on 'Goodreads'

As good a collection of greatest hits you can get but really, it doesn't take much to hit a point where you really need more complete texts. Even the manifesto lacked some of the more important prefaces in this edition. Still, the organization of material was fine and there will be an inevitable lack of depth for any general collection of works, particularly for such prolific writers as Marx and Engels.
