Outstanding book about the Mountain Men during the fur trapping days. A novel of man and woman during that time. Based in part on the life of John Johnston "The Crow Killer". The film Jeremiah Johnson starring Robert Redford was based in part on this novel. Excellent reading.

An old adventure in the Rocky Mountains

I can't help but love this book but I'm sure it's not for everyone. My heart will always belong to the landscape of the Rocky Mountains in the west and so this is why I love it. It's about my home state of Idaho, and I bought it from a state park gift shop at Craters of the Moon in southern Idaho. (state and national park gift shops are some of my favorite places to find books). It's been a long while since I read it but I remember it romanticises the hard life trappers and other people had when expanding west.
