From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon, comedian Tina Fey reveals all, and proves that you're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Witty, wry, and sizzling

Tina Fey's a huge personality and one of those social icons almost everyone has at least heard of, so diving into her perception of herself, and the world she inhabits, is fascinating in the extreme. She's led an interesting life in the arts, interacting with intersections of bizarre and brilliant people, as well as terrible and polished people. She highlights moments from her life with scathing, witty humor that speaks to her experience as a professional SNL comedian, but her wit is frequently turned inwards, and this ability to poke fun at herself makes her at-once relatable and likable. I don't always agree with her views in life, but I sure appreciate her opinions.

This book is more a collection of pointers than a memoir; I feel it's for feminists, women who are into comedy, people who want to get somewhere in life despite of obstacles and youth, women not taking shit from men and for feminists at large and...it's fun.

Fey writes of her growing up in a small town, being a nerd, growing up, snogging boys and dreaming of becoming more than her parents wanted her to be. And there are some really good extended one-liners thrown in, e.g.:

I was taken to an examining room where a big butch nurse practitioner came in and asked me if I was pregnant. “No way!” Was I sexually active? “Nope!” Had I ever been molested? “Well,” I said, trying to make a joke, “Oprah says the only answers to that question are ‘Yes’ and ‘I don’t remember.’ ” I laughed. We were having fun. …
