"1222 metres above sea level, train 601 from Oslo to Bergen careens off iced rails. Marooned in the mountains 269 passengers are forced to decamp to a centuries-old mountain hotel. When dawn breaks one of them is murdered. Passenger and retired police inspector Hanne Wilhelmsen is asked to investigate. Then there are rumours about a secret cargo carried by train 601. For Hanne there are too many unanswered questions; do they wait for help? And what if the killer strikes again."--Publisher description.

Review of '1222' on 'Goodreads'

I really enjoyed this book.

Set in Norway, this crime thriller is probably trying to cash in on the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, but the carefully built storyline is a pleasure to read. The heroine is not very likeable as a person (and I suspect deliberately tries to annoy the reader) - this makes it more interesting to read; and the observation of the different people involved was marvellous. And yes, it does, of course, have a twist.

I read this all in one sitting; though it was a long plane ride! A great read if you like a good whodunnit, with a difference.

Worthwhile, also, mentioning that the Kindle version is perfectly delivered and formatted.
