The creativity of Laini Taylor is great, i loved the "links" to her trilogy "Daughter of Smoke and Bone", and im interested in what she'll write next^^

Den Hype um Laini Taylor werde ich wohl nie ganz verstehen. Ja, der Schreibstil ist gut, aber auch nicht so außergewöhnlich wie manche hier schreiben.
Außerdem schafft sie es mMn, jede spannende Geschichte so in die Länge zu ziehen, dass ich mich schlussendlich doch größtenteils langweile.
Und ich finde auch, dass die Problemlösugen immer viel zu einfach sind. Man diskutiert mit dem "Bösewicht" und über kurz oder lang sieht er seine Fehler ein. Das passt einfach nicht zu den teils grausamen Welten, die die Autorin erschafft. Alle sind so liebevoll zueinander, es gibt kaum Konflikte, die nicht innerhalb von wenigen Kapiteln gelöst werden. Bei einem Kinderbuch würde ich mich nicht daran stören, eher im Gegenteil. Allerdings ist es mir für den Jugendbuchbereich - vor allem in der Hinsicht, dass es doch einige erotische Szenen gibt - einfach zu wenig Action.

Wo der Vorgängerband "Strange the Dreamer" trotz oder gerade wegen dem langsamen Fortgang des Plots einfach magisch war, gab es für mich in "Muse of Nightmares" eigentlich keine zauberhaften Momente.
I loved Strange the Dreamer and after that ending was eager to read the sequel (apparently these things are called duologies these days, it's not a series or a trilogy, just two books). It took me a while to really get into Muse of Nightmares, it lingered a little too long on Sarai and Strange's unfulfilled desire for each other and how they can't act on it. However the reason they can't do anything is more interesting; Minya's total control over Sarai's existence.
Ahhh Minya, I loved her character development, it would be so easy just to make her power hungry and evil but her backstory is so sad, and in the end, she really does care. There is something revealed which completely explains how she got to the point where she felt she could use Sarai's soul as a bargaining chip.

However the reason they can't do anything is more interesting; Minya's total control over Sarai's existence.

My least favourite bit was definitely the romance, but the rich world building totally made up for that. I would love to read further adventures in this world, or other worlds as the case may be.
