Fun urban fantasy with a few pacing issues
3 stars
This urban fantasy was a fun read, though uneven. The world and and magic system are textured and wonderful, and I loved the protagonist. But the pacing is off, and the foreshadowing is a bit heavy handed.
It reminded me of the early Dresden Files novels, which were also rough but found their groove and became a great series. I'm hopeful that the same will be true here because I'd love to see more of Emiko's adventures.
