Kate is one of my favorite authors of all time. I devour everything she writes (including her blog obviously). I think about Brine and Bone all the time, as well as The Heir and the Spare. I passionately love many of Kate's books. Needless to say, Maid and Minstrel had a lot to live up to and it did NOT disappoint. The original is so garbage, really, but Kate flipped it on its end and pulled out an amazingly believable romance with two imperfect but earnestly good characters.
