Review of "French Children Don't Throw Food" on 'Goodreads'

4 stars

I am writing this review as an expecting father, rather than as someone who has put the various titbits of advice offered to use and can comment on their efficacy.

The book was thoroughly entertaining, and is as much about the culture shock of an American living in Paris as it is a book on parenting. Much of what is expounded as being the reason for French parents lack of stress and French children's good behaviour reads like common sense, though I suppose it is all too easily forgotten under the strain of day to day life as the parent of a young child. Druckerman writes well and is not judgmental of either culture, but seems to honestly want the best of both and, of course, the best for her children. By examining French techniques, she ends up examining parenting techniques as a whole.

Highly recommended.
