Oceniam jedynie pierwszy, najbardziej chyba charakterystyczny i pięknie napisany rozdział. Niestety te kolejne nie sprawiają już tak dobrego wrażenia i nie chciałem sobie psuć przyjemnych wspomnień.
Really quite brilliant. Was drawn in by the intense depiction of the plight of the miners and their families, the debates amongst the varying strands of communism, anarchism and the role of leaders, and it's also just a good story.
The main downside is the stench of patriarchy that permeates many interactions between men and women in the book, though at times it is also challenged. His theories on heredity were also annoying, but didn't play much of a role.
