I was provided this book in exchange for an honest review via Goodreads First Reads.

To be honest, I had never heard of Viv Albertine before I came across this book. However, I love memoirs and biographies, especially of women, and this one sounded very interesting.

Viv Albertine is a female pioneer of punk rock and the guitarist of the punk band, The Slits. In this book, she tells how she has constantly rebelled against authority and gone her own way. Interestingly, unlike a lot of musicians, she did not learn to play the guitar until relatively late (early 20s). The book is organized in many chapters(some only two pages long)and is a surprisingly quick read. Viv is unflinchingly honest about her relationships, her mistakes, and her low self-esteem. I really loved the start of this book:
